Welcome To Middle Kindergarten
Our programme operates between 7:50am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday catering for 25 preschool aged children.
Middle Kindergarten Philosophy
In the Middle Kindergarten we see children as capable and competent learners. As teacher’s we strive to have positive relationships which provides a strong foundation for partnership between teachers and whanau.
We believe that children learn through a socio-cultural perspective and this occurs through the interaction between their peers, teachers, environment and whānau. We also use the environment as the third teacher and this shows in our planning for individual children as well as the group.
We believe the centre should be an extension of home. This is reflective in the way we welcome children and whānau into a loving and caring environment. We also use incredible years techniques to promote positive behavior, with tailored strategies for individual children.
Te reo and tikanga practices are actively promoted by all of the team. Te reo is woven throughout the programme thus honoring the bi cultural aspirations of Te Whariki.
As a team, we have a passion for stimulating children’s learning by noticing, recognizing and responding to individual needs. We strive to extend children’s own learning throughout our program with a wide variety of experiences that stimulate creativity, curiosity and invite active participation.
ERO review August 2014 :
Children learn in a welcoming, happy and secure environment. They show confidence and high levels of independence. Established routines foster their security and enable them to be prepared for significant daily events. Warm, unhurried conversations extend their early language and numeracy skills.
