Help with Childcare costs

You may qualify for subsidies to assist with your childcare costs.

20 Hours ECE

All three, four and five-year old children enrolled at early childhood education (ECE) services qualify for 20 free hours.  Scallywaggs and Sprouts do not charge any additional fees for these 20 free hours.

Simply complete and sign the appropriate section on the Scallywaggs Kindergarten and Care / Scallywaggs Sprouts In-Home Childcare enrolment form.

WINZ Childcare Subsidy

WINZ childcare subsidies help cover childcare costs for children aged under 5 (or under 6 if you receive a Child Disability Allowance). You may be able to access up to 50 hours of childcare a week while you’re working.

OSCAR (Out of School Care and Recreation) subsidy is for children aged 5 to 13 years. It can help with the costs of before and after school care, (up to 20 hours a week) during the school holidays (up to 50 hours a week).

Families must apply to WINZ to find out if you are eligible for a WINZ subsidy.

The amount of subsidy available for families is dependent on the number of children in your family and your household income. The amount is paid directly to Scallywaggs Kindergarten and Care / Scallywaggs Sprouts In-Home Childcare and will be deducted from your account.

Please note: WINZ subsidies cannot be claimed for the same hours that you are accessing the 20 Hours ECE subsidy. However if you work, or are in approved training for more than 20 hours per week you may be eligible for a WINZ childcare subsidy.
