Grow your small sprouts in fertile soil

Who is that providing quality In-Home Childcare to the families of Manawatu, Rangitikei, Horowhenua and Wairarapa? You might remember them as Easy Mind Childcare, but now they go by the name Sprouts In-Home Childcare. "There's never a dull moment for your child at Sprouts," says regional manager Paula Grigg. "We've got lots and lots happening!"

GREEN FINGERS: Kaylee Mooar (3) and Matthew Field (4) tackle the biggest weeds.

Playgroup is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Today the children are digging weeds out of the garden after a successful vegetable harvest. The dirt flies as everyone pitches in with trowels and hoes. It's part of this month's theme of "occupations"; inspiration for these themes is drawn from educators, families and the children themselves. Monday is time for music! Music coordinator Therese Trail gets out her guitar and there are songs and musical activities like dancing, movement and rhythmic drumming. "It encourages children to take part, and I try to get the parents joining in too," says Therese. These music sessions, along with ones every second Wednesday at the Feilding Library, are open to anyone with under-5s to come along and join in. On Mondays too are the gym sessions with Flip It Life Skills. The children get moving on trampolines, ladders, tunnels and the sponge-pit (a perennial favourite). "Occasionally the teachers are seen joining in..." chuckles Paula. Sprouts in-home educators are fully supported with curriculum-based resources as well as nursery equipment and cell phones. Sprouts provides them with on-going training and development to ensure that your child is getting nothing but the best care.
